Narritive writing

The bush
by Teariki

TEARIKI
Every picture tells a story.

Use your imagination and experience to narrate (tell) a story about the photo.

Where are the people going? Why?

What problem is caused? How is it solved?

Think about:
  • where your story is set
  • who your characters are – what they do, what they say, and how they think and feel
  • the problem and how it is solved
  • the order of your ideas and how they are linked.

Remember to:
  • choose your words carefully
  • take care with your spelling, punctuation, and sentences
  • edit – add or delete words or sentences to improve your work.

On a Saturday morning My family and I are going on a bush walk. When my brother woke up and screamed“ Get up get ready for the walk” I woke up and yelled “ it’s walking day”.

When we all woke up my mum was grumpy because of my brother and I were yelling and said to all of us “ get ready hurry we got to beat the traffic. After that we all were in a rush just to jet ready.

The bush walk took place at Saint John's.Once we arrived I was the first one to jump out of the car and grabbed my bag then started walking with my brother and sister. My sister's name is Mahaleah my brothers name is Iraia.

So when we were walking my mum said “ wait for us” then we were waiting for them. When we started walking my brother was happy he was running down the hill and then running back up to us.

Lastly we got back to the car at 6:00 and then we arrived at home about 6:30 then my mum said “ How was the walk” we all replied back “ I’t was amazing we should go again tomorrow.

My little sister kitten.

Vrooom vroom we were speeding up my driveway because my little sister's kitten was horrified and stressed.Well half of his body was stuck in the blinds and couldn't get out. While he was stuck his mum was just staring right at him with her laser eyes.

Then she ran outside to us and we knew there was something wrong with the kitten. After we all ran in with upset faces my mum saw what happened to the kitten so then she said " CALL THE PET RESCUE RIGHT NOW".We didn't know who she was talking to then she just ripped the blinds open.

While she was ripping up the blinds she was going a little overboard. We all shouted at her to "stop" she replied " No he's going to die". Then my little sister was screaming at her to stop But she kept on going but once she saw the corner of her eye and looked at my little sister. She was telling my mum just stop then my mum was Just crying ( Boy she can cry). There were huge rain drops like tears but bigger.

After that all happened we called smell this fishy smell then we were searching the whole entire house but we did not find what it was. After we heard screaming we all jumped up straight like as still as a stick. I zoomed out of my bed and ran as fast as I could because that's my sister's voice. There she was in the kitchen with her pet kitten that just died.

Later on we had to bury it and while we were bearing it my little sister said can i get another kitten my mum said no more cats or kittens so then thats when I stepped in and asked for a pet dog she said yes.

Then we went to the pet store in glen innes centre. We walked and I saw this cute rottweiler puppy and a american bull dogs but I just went for the rottweiler and it cost a lot of money so then we zoomed back home like the flash to grab my savings and zoomed back and bought the rottweiler. We all came up with a name and it's Zion.

Lyre birds.

Lyre bird is amazing because it’s feathers stick out and shine brightly. They live in Australia Did you know that this lyre bird is very fast. If you try to catch one it would just sprint to tree to tree or somewhere safe. They love to eat insects and they use their beaks to find insects to feed their babies or themselves.

They have wings but stay on the ground most of the times and the male lyre birds can copy any sounds like a copy parrot. Lyre bird males dance and sing for the females. The lyre birds belong to a group of birds called passiforms.

There are 2 species (kinds) of lyrebird:
• superb lyrebird, which is about the size of a rooster, and
•Albert’s lyrebird, which is the smaller of the two.

In conclusion after mating with a male, a female lays one egg in a nest built on the ground or around the stump of a tree or fern. The nest is up to about 10 cm high and about 70 cm wide and made of sticks and leaves. The egg hatches in about six weeks and the young lyrebird stays in the nest for about six weeks. The female feeds her young.

Leap year.

A leapyear is when an extra day is added onto the end of febuary. So leap seconds - and leapyears are added as means of keeping our clocks (and calenders) in sync with the earth and it’s sesons.

Under his predecessor Julius Caesar feb had 30 days and the month named after him. July had 31 August had only 29 days. The year 2000 was a leap year but the years 1700,1800 and 1900 were not.

Usually there is a leap year every four years but once in a long while a leap year has to be skipped (this is because the earth’s orbit is 365,242 days a bit less than 365 so thats only like ¼ of those days.)

Winnipeg february 29 comes around once every four years so whether it’s your birthday, anniversary or your needing that extra day to get ahead of you're chores it’s time to celebrate leap day.

DescrIbe your mum.

BOOM CRASH my mum woke up in a shock and started to yell while my auntie was asleep. Then my aunty woke up and said “What’s the matter?” my mum replied “ THOSE KIDS ARE MAKING A MESS!”.They both walked in and said to us “ What are you doing” We replied  “ We are making you breakfast for mother’s day.

Then Mum and my aunty came out and we all shouted together “ HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!”. They both said to my brother, sister and I “ sorry for yelling at  you” we replied back “ It’s Ok Mum and Auntie”.

After that all happened we told mum she can do whatever she wants to do for the rest of the day and we will do everything in the house.  Mum then went and watched a movie and then we walked in with big smiles and laid the plate down on her lap and gave her the presents we had got for her.
